Who is the Dakota Credit Union Foundation and what does it do?
The Dakota Credit Union Foundation is the charitable arm of the Dakota credit union movement. Built on the cooperative philosophy of people helping people, the Foundation exists to amplify the impact credit unions already have in their communities. Credit unions serve members every day inside their branches but their commitment doesn’t stop there. The Foundation extends that commitment beyond institutional walls, investing in people and initiatives that strengthen financial well-being across North and South Dakota.
Through community impact grants, scholarships, and professional development awards, the Foundation provides meaningful financial support to projects and individuals working to improve financial health. From funding local initiatives that expand financial education, to supporting credit union professionals pursuing advanced training, to helping remove financial barriers that prevent progress, the Foundation focuses on creating lasting, measurable impact. Every dollar invested is rooted in cooperative values and directed toward strengthening the communities credit unions proudly serve.
Supporting the Foundation means investing in stronger communities, empowered individuals, and a more resilient cooperative movement. Contributions directly fuel programs that advance financial literacy, leadership development, and community-based solutions. When you support the Dakota Credit Union Foundation, you are not just making a donation — you are partnering in a mission to ensure financial well-being and opportunity are accessible to all.
